What led to the murder (Chapter 16)

As I was trying to find Frankenstein, I usually slept by day, and traveled at night. When I found a highly wooded area, I decided to go during the day, because I could see better, and stop running into tree limbs and tripping over tree stumps. One day I saw a girl running playfully from someone else near a stream. Suddenly, she slipped and fell into the stream, and I dove out of my hiding spot to save her. I succeeded, but not before the one she had been running from showed up. He took one look at me , and ripped the girl from me. I followed for who-knows-what reason, and he shot a gun that he was carrying at me. I got hit in the shoulder, putting me in a hellish rage. I waited for the wound to heal, all the while seething with rage. Finally I arrived in Geneva, where I figured Victor would be. I saw a small child, and thought to myself that he is young and unprejudiced, so if I seized him and educated him, I would not be so lonely. All that changed when he told me who his father was, a family member of Victor, my creator! Overcome with rage, I strangled the boy, and found devilish pleasure in the murder. I found a lovely portrait of a beautiful woman on him, and retreated to a barn, where I found a girl, not as lovely as the portrait, but still beautiful. I became mad, that she represented all the things that I would never have in life, so I stored the portrait in her dress and made off.

  1. I do like this post, but I'm going to have to disagree with a few things. The creature never actually meant to strangle William. He had only wished to quiet him, which is why he wrapped his hands around his throat. Although the creature did become irate, this post makes him seem like a merciless monster. Even though he appears to be that, on the inside he is very sensitive and insecure. I would like to have seen a little more of his vulnerable side, not just his angry side.
